British Colonial Nassau

The British Colonial Nassau is a historic landmark with a storied past. Originally built in 1901, the Colonial Hotel was a grand wooden structure that tragically burned down in 1922. Rebuilt as The New Colonial in 1924, it quickly became a symbol of luxury and resilience. In 1932, it was renamed the British Colonial Hotel, cementing its status as a cornerstone of Bahamian hospitality. Over the decades, the hotel has undergone multiple ownerships, transformations, and renovations. Second Wave was brought in to help reimagine the new British Colonial while honoring its rich legacy and cultural significance.

The Challenge Tradition and Luxury Redefined

British Colonial Nassau, a historic hotel with over a century of rich heritage, faced the challenge of balancing its legacy with the expectations of modern travelers. The hotel had to

  1. Reinvigorate its brand identity to resonate with both local and international audiences
  2. Establish itself as a distinctive Bahamian destination amid competitive resorts
  3. Embrace its storied past while integrating contemporary elegance and comfort. This effort required a holistic approach to redefine the hotel’s positioning, visual identity, and guest experience.
